Shocked that my granddaughter is a lesbian

Dear Pastor,

I am 60 years old, and one of my granddaughters lives with me. There is a girl who is her best friend, and she comes over and stays with her sometimes. I had no objection to that. Sometimes these two girls are in a room by themselves for hours.

My granddaughter cooks for me, so regardless of how late I come home, I have something to eat. I love this girl so much, but rumour has it that my granddaughter and this girl are lesbians.

If you were to see my granddaughter, she is so pretty. Why would my granddaughter, who can get any man, be a lesbian? I did not believe what I heard on the road, so one day I asked my granddaughter whether she has a boyfriend and she said “No grandpa, I am not into men.” I asked her what she meant and she said she did not love men. I could not believe what I was hearing. I asked her about her best friend, and she admitted that they are lovers.

I told her not to let the girl come back to the house. Now my daughter is annoyed with me and said that I should not stop my granddaughter from having this girl as a friend.

Do you think I was wrong in telling my granddaughter not to make this girl come back to my house? It is my house and I make my own rules. What do you have to say?

Dear Grandfather,

Your granddaughter told you that she was not into men, and you understood right away what she meant.

She was saying that she loves women. You cannot stop her from loving women, if her preference is to have a woman as a lover instead of a man. But you can tell her that you do not want that type of relationship in your house. After all, it is your house. However, you have to bear in mind that if her lover cannot be in your house, that will not prevent them from meeting at a place that would be convenient to both of them.

I would hope that you would continue to love your granddaughter and that you would not do or say anything that would push her away from you. Continue to pray for her and if she needs financial help and you are in a position to assist, do so. I assure you of my prayers and may the good Lord bless you.
