Bus driver allegedly causing traffic jam fined $50,000 after cops find expired licence

A St Catherine bus driver who was allegedly caught holding up traffic in Portmore ended up before the court after police discovered that his driver's licence had expired and he had no insurance coverage.

Kingsley Morgan pleaded guilty to having no driver's licence and no insurance coverage when he appeared before Parish Judge Venese Blackstock-Murray.

He was fined a total of $50,000 or 24 days' imprisonment.

Morgan was ordered to pay $20,000 or serve 10 days behind bars for having no driver's licence, while he was fined $30,000 or 14 days' imprisonment for having no insurance coverage.

The court heard that on August 22, 2026, police personnel assigned to the Ferry Police Station were on duty in Portmore when Morgan was observed holding up traffic.

The bus driver was intercepted and his documents examined.

During the checks, police reportedly discovered that his driver's licence had expired.

Morgan was subsequently arrested and charged.
