Sister trying to steal my short man

Dear Pastor,

I am having a problem and I am not sure that I am dealing with it in the correct way.

I am 19 years old and I am very tall for my age. I met a man and we fell in love with each other. He is short, but I love him very much. I have one sister and when I took this man to meet my parents, my sister laughed at me and then told me that if I couldn't see that this man and I are not compatible. She said that he is too short for me. My mother told her that he is the one I love, so she should leave me alone. I have found out that my sister loves this man. They have become good friends and she has been taking news to him and telling him lies about me. She even told him that I have another boyfriend. I do not have another boyfriend; he is the only man in my life.

My boyfriend told me that my sister told him things about me that he would not want to repeat. The things that he said she told him have embarrassed me. These are secrets that sisters should keep and not tell anybody about. I know that my sister wants to take my boyfriend away from me. She has had about three boyfriends that I know about and they have not stayed with her because she chats too much. Sometimes I don't talk to my sister for days because of the nasty things she told this man about me.

How can I handle this problem?

Dear Disgusted Sister,

I hope that this man will not believe your sister. But if you are not guilty of doing anything that is bad, don't be too concerned about what she said.

You should also tell your parents what your sister has told this man about you and have them confront your sister. Your sister is very jealous of you. You say that this man is short and when your sister was introduced to him, she mocked you and said that he was too short for you. Nobody should try to choose for you. Some women like short men, some like tall men. It is your choice.
