Girlfriend left me because mom said she was barren

Dear Pastor,

I am 30 years old and I have two sisters. I do not know my father. My mother said he left the home after they had a fuss over a schoolgirl she accused him of having an affair with.

It almost turned out to be a big fight, and my mother's father told my dad to get out of the yard. My father sharpened a cutlass and said, "If your grandfather thinks he is going to handle me like boy, he is making a big mistake." Mom was afraid of what may happen, so she asked my father to leave. He left and never came back.

My mother said she heard he is living in America. We have never seen our mother with another man. She became a 'warner', always telling people about the destruction that is to come on the land. Some people think that she is crazy, but she is not. She is always seeing visions and they are for real.

My older sister got pregnant and my mother told her that she was having twins; and she also told her the date and the very hour she would give birth. My mother is not a doctor. My girlfriend and I have been together for two years and we have been trying to have a child. But my mother told me that she had a vision, where it was revealed to her that my girlfriend is barren. My girlfriend cursed my mother and broke up with me. I believe my mother, but I would like to get my girlfriend back. I don't know what to do.

It is indeed unfortunate that you don't know your dad. He broke up with your mother while you were a child. Perhaps if he had not left, something terrible would have happened.

Evidently, your sister and you have done well. You call your mother a 'warner'. A former broadcaster used to call his mother a warner. Evidently, these warners believe they have messages to deliver, and some of them do so on the street and in church.

I doubt your girlfriend will ever love you. Your mother did not bring good news to her. She called her barren; and I would not be surprised if your girlfriend believes that it is your mother who has put a curse on her. Therefore, even if your girlfriend and you were to be intimate again, she would never live in peace with your mother. She will always believe that you are a mama's boy and you believe your mama.
