Butler looking at ‘options’ for ‘Whisper’
Manager and agent of Dujuan ‘Whisper’ Richards, Craig Butler, said the player might have to cut his time at Chelsea short in search of regular first-team football.
Richards, the Jamaican youth prodigy, has been overlooked by Chelsea’s senior team, despite being one of their most outstanding young talent.
A loan spell at Leicester City in the second part of last season did little to improve his stock.
Since the offseason began, there has been a lot of speculation about the player’s future, and Butler said getting the forward first-team football is currently the main objective, and that it might not even be in England.
“He (Richards) is at Chelsea, but we are looking at options to move him because we want him to play first-team football,” Butler told STAR Sports.
The EPL transfer window is scheduled to close at midnight on August 31, and Butler said they are looking at the options and will come to a decision before the window closes.
“We are working on a transfer where ‘Whisper’ is concerned, and we are working within the timeline of the transfer window. And it can be anywhere,” he added.
Butler also disclosed that Jamaica’s under-20 forward, Sean Leighton, and 18-year-old Chapelton Maroons defender Daniel Scarlett have received offers.
OFFER
Leighton, he said, is being allowed to play in England, but will be unable to take up the offer until January.
“Sean Leighton currently has an offer to play in the Premier League in England and one in the Championship.
“I don’t want to name the teams, but remember that Sean Leighton was on trial recently.
“Sean is turning 18 in September. So, in this transfer window, he would not be able to go, but he will definitely be able to go in January,” he commented.
Scarlett, on the other hand, will travel Down Under to Central Coast Mariners in the Australian A-League.
