Teen injured in Zimi Seh brawl could suffer permanent injury

The violent Zimi Seh Beach Party brawl has taken a more serious turn, with prosecutors revealing that one of the teens injured in the fight could be left with a permanent injury.

The disclosure came on Friday as Dave Taylor, the 43-year-old New York City businessman charged in connection with the incident, made his first appearance in the St Ann’s Bay Parish Court.

Taylor is facing charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and unlawful wounding.

Prosecutors told the court that one of the injuries suffered by one of the brothers could be permanent. No details were given about the nature of the injury, but the court was told that further medical examination is scheduled.

Taylor was granted $1 million bail and ordered to surrender his travel documents to Jamaican authorities. A stop order has also been placed against him at the ports.

However, Taylor’s attorney, Donnovan Collins, continues to insist that his client was not involved in the brawl.

Collins also pointed to videos of the incident circulating on social media, saying they make it “clear” that Taylor was not involved.

According to prosecutors, the two brothers, aged 15 and 17, were attending the popular beach party at Puerto Seco Beach in Discovery Bay, St Ann, on August 9, when they saw a commotion involving two men.

The 15-year-old was reportedly passing through the area when he became caught in the middle of the altercation.

His older brother allegedly attempted to intervene, but prosecutors said both teenagers were subsequently “attacked and badly beaten by a group of men”.

The incident was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread attention and police investigations.

Meanwhile, a second suspect linked to the incident turned himself in at the Runaway Bay Police Station on Thursday.

Taylor is scheduled to return to court on September 22.
