Math scores up, English stays strong in CSEC results
More Caribbean students conquered CSEC mathematics this year, with the regional pass rate climbing four percentage points, while English maintained its strong performance.
Data released by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) today show that 42 per cent of students passed mathematics in the May/June 2026 examinations, up from last year's 38 per cent.
While the improvement remains modest, CXC Director of Operations Dr Nicole Manning said the increase should still be welcomed.
“Any improvement in math is a good improvement, so it's important for us to be happy about that… improvement is improvement,” she said.
English continued to perform strongly, with 80 per cent of students earning passing grades. Ten territories performed above the regional average, while 11 fell below it.
