Teen charged after allegedly climbing through shop window and stealing $219,000

A shop owner's night of rest turned into a costly nightmare after a 14-year-old boy allegedly slipped through a window under the cover of darkness and made off with more than $219,000 in cash, a cellphone and groceries in a brazen Trelawny break-in.

The teenager, of Duncansville District, has since been charged with housebreaking and larceny in connection with the alleged burglary, which occurred in December 2025.

According to the Falmouth Police, the woman securely locked her shop before retiring to bed.

The following morning, a relative reportedly told her the teen had been seen climbing out of the business through a front window.

When she checked the premises, she discovered that $180,000 in cash, $12,000 in coins stored in a jar, a Samsung Galaxy S5 cellphone valued at $20,000, and grocery items worth $7,200 had disappeared.

The matter was reported to the police, and investigators say statements collected during the probe implicated the teenager.

On Monday, August 3, officers attached to the Clark's Town Police reportedly spotted the teen while on patrol. He was taken into custody, interviewed in the presence of his mother and subsequently charged.

His court date is being finalised.
