I can never trust women again
Dear Pastor,
I am the father of six children but only two are living with me; the others are with their mothers. The two who are with me belong to one mother. The other four have different mothers. I used to earn lots of money and I wasted it on women. Women used to throw themselves at me and I could not resist them.
I had a sister who used to live with me while my two children’s mother was also living here. I was saving my money in the house because I did not trust the banks. Every week, I put away a certain amount of money until it became two hundred thousand. I was saving that money to buy a place in St Elizabeth.
One day when I went for the money, all of it was gone. My children’s mother said she did not take it. My sister told me she did not even know where I would keep that amount of money. I demanded my money from both of them, but I felt in my heart it was my children’s mother who took my money.
My sister started to cry and say that she would not steal from me because I was good to her. She called one of my brothers and told him that I had lost my money and she could not stay with me anymore because I was looking at her as a thief. My brother spoke to me and I told him that I did not believe that it was my sister. She left my house and went to live with my brother.
One day when I came home, my children were alone and they told me their mother had left them. She packed up her things and did not tell me she was leaving, but the children told me that a man in a pickup came for her and they went away.
I decided that I would try to raise my children on my own. I did not hear from this woman for over one year. They learnt to take care of themselves, and I would come home and cook.
Now another woman is living at the house, but I find it very hard to trust women. I joined the credit union and I put my money in the credit union.
These two boys who are with me have done very well in school. One is now going to HEART and the other is at UTech. It took me a long time to get involved with another woman; they are so dangerous.
My sister who was living with me comes around sometimes because she is convinced that I still believe that she stole my money. It was hard for me to start over to save money again, but I am trying.

Dear M.,
Somebody took your money and you believe it was the mother of your two boys. Some women would steal from their spouses and it would not bother them at all.
A woman once told me that she went to church and she got converted. When she went home, she gave her husband the good news; “Honey, I got saved.” And he replied, “Thank God, now you would stop stealing my money.” She was shocked at what he said, but she admitted to me that she knew where he kept his money and, from time to time, she would go in the money and take out a certain amount. But she wasn’t aware that he knew that she was stealing from him.
Your children’s mother was probably guilty of stealing, and she left the house and the relationship because she was scared that you would hurt her. Well, you have no proof that she took the money but, if she did, she doesn’t have that money now.
You do not believe that your sister took any of the money, and I am glad that both of you have a good relationship again. I am also happy to know that your children are doing well; at least the two that grew up in your house.
Try to find your other children. It is good for a man to know where his children are.
You have done the right thing by putting your money in a credit union. Take good care of yourself, brother. Feel free to write me again.
Pastor
