The Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League (JPL) kicks off this Sunday, and the match at the Edward Seaga Complex between hosts Tivoli Gardens and their crosstown rivals Waterhouse is expected to take centre stage.

Of interest is how Tivoli will perform under the guidance of new coach Jerome Waite, who makes his return to top-flight football after four seasons.

The three-time JPL league winner with Arnett Gardens said he is aware that expectations are high, but he hopes to match the trust placed in him before the season concludes.

"It is good to be back after four years break," he told STAR Sports. "People are looking to see some great things from the man himself, knowing I have set the bar high over the years.

"I am always under pressure despite whatever talent pool I have to work with. People expect great things."

He pointed out that although Tivoli have not challenged for the title in the last three years, he expects them to be competitive under his watch.

"Tivoli is an experienced Premier League team. They have a lot of talent. They haven't done well in the last few years, but I must get the best out of these players. It will be a work in progress and a learning process for these players.

"Tivoli will be up against everything new this season - a coaching staff, new style of play and system of play. If they can grasp things, I am looking forward to good things from them," he said.
