June 20, 2023

Tru Juice and Lime Hall secured the last two semi-final spots in the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) National Tier II competition after the final preliminary round games on the weekend.

Three teams, Tru Juice, Lime Hall and Meadforest, entered the final weekend with a chance of advancing to the semi-finals.

Tru Juice defeated Portlanders 3-0 to consolidate third place with 27 points, the same as Lime Hall, who received the points for their game against Albion Mountain, who failed to show for their home game at Clembhard Park.

Meadforest ended with 25 points after a 6-1 win over Falmouth United.

Jevoun Bascoe scored a brace, and Keastner Sturridge added the third for Tru Juice in their victory at Lynch Park.

At the Elleston Wakefield Community Centre, Meadforest, with double strikes from Jevone Bryan and Orane Ferguson and one each from Amali Randall and Delano Daley, scored a convincing win over their hosts, for whom Hamitt Hosang scored.

In the top-of-the-table clash at the Spanish Town Prison Oval, Racing United overcame Treasure Beach 3-2 to top the standings.

Raheem Edwards' hat-trick gave Racing a 3-0 lead after 56 minutes, with Treasure Beach responding with two late goals from Romario Smith and Ryan Dwyer.

Racing held on for the three points and topped the table with 32 points, three more than Treasure Beach in second.

Meanwhile, Hopewell joined Downs as the teams to be relegated this season after the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw.

Donyew Whiteley gave Downs the lead in the 19th minute, but Jaelem Jumpps' 90th-minute goal salvaged a point, however, it was not enough to save them from relegation. Hopewell finished with seven points and Downs with two.

Wadadah, who entered the final game with a relegation possibility, ensured their safety regardless of other results with a 1-0 win over Baptiste Alliance, thanks to a Ronaldo Green strike.

Wadadah moved to 10 points, two more than Portlanders in 11th place and the same as Baptiste Alliance in ninth.

In the day's other game, Brown's Town defeated Reno 5-0 with two goals from Odane Wilberforce and one from Namion Robinson, Rashaed Dowery, and Richard Edwards.
