Clovis gets other local offers
Brazilian Clovis De Oliveira revealed that his stint in Jamaica could extend into next season after receiving offers from two local clubs, which he is considering in his native country.
De Oliveira, who took charge of Chapelton Maroons in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) in February after the sacking of Lenworth Hyde, was relieved of his position after one win and two draws in 10 matches.
However, the former national under-20 coach said he would take his time to decide his next move.
" I haven't closed the door. I would love to stay here because I love this country very much. Of course, if I get the chance to come back, I will.
"Two clubs have contacted me. One of them, official, but I will not tell the name of the club, but I am very proud to know about this," he said.
De Oliveira disclosed that issues, such as not knowing the players well on arrival and not having enough time to implement his programme affected his effectiveness at Chapelton.
"My son and assistant (Gabriel Barros) is still in Jamaica. My will is I get the time to set up a programme, to participate, and choose the players for the squad because now I am involved in Jamaica football, I know players much better.
"With football, you never know. For the time, I will relax and see what is going to happen next season, so let's see what is going to happen," he said.
Meanwhile, he noted that it was the first time in his three stints as a coach in Jamaica that he was living in rural Jamaica, and he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
"The experience of living in the countryside was really fantastic. My two times before, I lived in Kingston, and I didn't know very well that part of Jamaica.
"So to get together with the football fans of Chapelton was a great moment. To know the countryside and know them and exchange experiences were wonderful," De Oliveira said.
