Jamaica's Reggae Boyz got their wish last night as Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) General Secretary Dalton agreed to hand in his resignation.

Although, it is not yet officially in writing, he assured the board during a meeting yesterday that he would step aside.

The Boyz had insisted they would not be suiting up for their return game in Group A of the Concacaf Nations League against Suriname at the National Stadium this evening at eight, unless Wint stepped away.

They even cancelled their scheduled training session yesterday to reinforce their stance, after the JFF offered to put Wint on indefinite suspension.

The pressure on Wint to resign started in Suriname on Friday ahead of the opening Nations League game, after mismanaging regarding the team's travel and accommodation led to the players issuing the ultimatum. Head coach Paul Hall also allegedly showed his support for the players by threatening to resign from his role.

A meeting was held where players mentioned that repeated unprofessional conduct by JFF leadership hampered their preparedness for matches and that their tolerance had run out.

"There is nothing like representing Jamaica on the international stage,"a statement from the players read. "However that love, passion and excitement is being drained by the constant lack of adequate leadership from the JFF. We the players are saying enough is enough.

"We are calling for the General Secretary Dalton Wint to resign. The players will no longer represent the country until he does."

It is understood that an executive meeting was called earlier yesterday, where Wint refused to resign at the time.

However, in a subsequent meeting, even though the board was split down the middle on a verdict, Wint succumbed to the pressure and gave assurance they he will tender his resignation as JFF General Secretary.

Wint, a former Manchester Football Association president, came to office at the JFF in 2017 as part of Michael Ricketts' executive team when he was elected to take over from Captain Horace Burrell, who died earlier that year.
