The St James police have launched a probe into the a shooting incident which left a woman dead and her five-month-old daughter injured on Friday.
THE STAR understands that Alexia Brown was gunned down, while her injured infant remains hospitalised after gunmen invaded their home in the Porto Bello community some minutes after 8 a.m.
After explosions
Head of the St James Police, Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth, told our news team that a police team was sent to the area after explosions were heard.
The senior cop also described the incident as gruesome and asked that anyone with information come forward and speak with the police.
"The killers have no regard for people's live, not even their own, that they seek to want to kill a defenceless woman in front of her five-month-old, and shot the child also," Nesbeth said.
The crime fighter says men under his command will be relentless in their pursuit to bring the gunmen to justice.
More than 230 people have been killed in St. James since the start of the year.
