Promoters of Beach Road Trip (BRT) Weekend have marked March 2023 for the event to make its debut in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

After facing an unavoidable cancellation in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organisers had positioned themselves to execute the party series during the Independence weekend, but did not get the green light from local authorities. There was no mention that refunds for patrons who had purchased tickets were eventually provided, with the island's entertainment sector on lockdown. But the promoters have reiterated that all valid tickets will be honoured.

"It was an unfortunate and unforeseen situation, to be cancelled a day before the Thursday kick-off, but [we] remain thankful to our supporters across North America, Canada and Jamaica and our main focus is on patron satisfaction as we prepare to stage our premier event on local soils," promoter Hans-Peter Mullings told THE WEEKEND STAR.

He added that expectations are very high for BRT Weekend 2023 which is scheduled for March 10-12.

Boasting an impressive entertainment package, with an all-star line-up for previous executions across seven destinations, including Florida, California, and the Dominican Republic, Mullings stated that the team is currently revisiting its artiste selection to include trending names. Spice, Alkaline, Dexta Daps, Machel Montano, Shenseea, Jada Kingdom and Super Cat are among past performers.

He said, "We are aware that several of the artistes who were hot during the first set date have probably changed, and that there are some new hot artistes. So we hope to finalise the line-up and make an announcement within the next few weeks to share that, as well as DJs, chefs and bar service providers who will make this staging a great one."

Mullings said the team was still on a high from the Atlantic City staging that saw more than 25,000 patrons "where the bar was set for future events from the entertainment to the food representing other cultures to the liquor".

"There is no competition. BRT Weekend is not just about the artiste line-up either. It's about the experience, and we are planning to give everyone in Jamaica something to remember. Partnerships with UDC [Urban Development Corporation], Jamaica Tourist Board and Romeich Entertainment for the promotion are already being formed to make certain of this," Mullings continued.
