Four Jamaicans win in Berlin

Jamaicans recorded four wins through Sabrina Dockery, Danielle Williams, Rushell Clayton and Kadrian Goldson at the International Stadium Festival (ISTAF) Berlin athletics meeting, a World Continental Tour Silver event, at Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany, yesterday.

Competing in the women’s blue-riband 100 metres final, Dockery sped to victory in 11.13 seconds, running into a negative wind of 0.1 metres per second. Gina Lückenkemper of Germany was second in 11.22, the same time credited to former Jamaican athlete now competing for Austria, Christania Williams, who finished third.

Jamaica’s Niesha Burgher won Final 2 in 11.58.

Williams raced to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles, clocking 12.78 seconds. Amber Hughes of the United States was second in 12.88, the same time recorded by third-place finisher Lotecia Bapté of France. Jamaica’s Demisha Roswell was fourth in 12.92.

Clayton warmed up for this weekend’s Diamond League Final by capturing the women’s 400m hurdles in 53.72 seconds. Shamier Little of the United States finished second in 54.51, with Ashley Miller of Zimbabwe third in 54.59.

On the male side, sprinter Kadrian Goldson had the best result for Jamaica, clocking 9.98 seconds to win the men’s 100m ahead of fellow Jamaican Travis Williams, who clocked 10.19. Jeremiah Azu of Germany was third in 10.17.

Sachin Dennis won Final 2 in 10.26.

In other events involving Jamaicans, Danniel Thomas-Dodd was fourth in the women’s shot put with a heave of 18.86 metres, as Chase Jackson of the United States won with 21.02m.

Kelly-Ann Beckford finished ninth in the women’s 800m in 2:02.95.
