Mount Pleasant Football Academy, which ended the game with 10 players, and hosts Arnett Gardens played out a 1-1 draw in their Jamaica Premier League (JPL) football encounter at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex last night.

Raheem Edwards scored for Mount Pleasant in the 57th minute, while substitute, the veteran Adrian Reid, netted for Arnett Gardens in the 70th minute.

Mount Pleasant played the second half of the match with 10 players after Jashaun Mustaf was red carded in the 45th minute.

The draw moved Mount Pleasant to 56 points, five behind leaders Montego Bay United who are on 61 points.

However, Mount Pleasant have two games in hand. Arnett Gardens are in ninth place on 39 points.

Both teams started the match very tentatively as they nullified each other on both ends of the field. Arnett Gardens young striker Giovanni Taylor, the son of former national player Fabian Taylor, received his team's best chance in the first half but his shot from 12 yards went wide of the target.

Edwards, a livewire, came close for Mount Pleasant, but his effort from point-blank range sailed over the crossbar.

Mount Pleasant began the second half with 10 players after Mustaf received straight red card for a dangerous tackle on an Arnett Gardens player.

However, Edwards made up for his earlier miss when he collected a long pass out of midfield before sprinting away from two defenders then firing from past custodian Jaedine White.

However, Arnett Gardens pressed their opponents for the equaliser and they were awarded when Reid tapped home a cross from Rusheem Green, much to the delight of the home fans.

Arnett Gardens continued to stalk their opponents for the go-ahead goal, but they were kept out by a very organised Mount Pleasant defensive unit.

In the day's other matches, Racing United and Treasure Beach played to a goalless finish, while Waterhouse hammered Spanish Town Police 5-1 at Drewsland Mini Stadium.

Racing United are third on 54 points, while Treasure Beach sit 11th on 30 points.

Waterhouse are fifth on 49 points, while Spanish Town Police stayed bottom of the 14-team table on 20 points.
