Shaw wins top PFA award in England

Jamaican international Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has been named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Women’s Player of the Year.

Shaw, who represents Manchester City in the Women’s Super League (WSL), captured the prestigious award for the second time in three seasons while Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes took home the PFA Men’s Player of the Year honour.

She becomes only the third player to win the PFA Women’s Player of the Year award multiple times, joining Lucy Bronze and Fran Kirby.

The 29-year-old forward scored 21 goals in 22 appearances to secure her third consecutive WSL Golden Boot as Manchester City clinched their second league title.

Shaw recorded hat-tricks against Aston Villa, when she scored four goals, and Tottenham. She also netted twice against West Ham on the final day of the season to become the first player to score 20 or more goals in three different WSL campaigns.

She is also the first player to win three WSL Golden Boots, moving clear of two-time winners Vivianne Miedema and Sam Kerr.

Shaw added five more goals in cup competition, including the opener in the final, as Manchester City lifted the FA Cup.
