Reggae Girlz head coach Hubert Busby Jr is not concerned with the team's missed opportunities in their win over Nicaragua on Monday, saying the team creating chances is a positive sign.

Jamaica defeated Nicaragua 3-2 in their second game of the Concacaf W Qualifiers at the Nicaragua National Stadium.

Two goals from Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw and one from Shania Hayles secured all three points for the Girlz and saw them moving atop Group B with six points, tied with Nicaragua, but holding the advantage with a better goal difference with their 21 goals scored compared to Nicaragua's nine. The Reggae Girlz have also played one match less.

Guyana sit third with three points, while Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica sit fourth and fifth, respectively, both without a point.

Despite the narrow margin, the night was highlighted by Jamaica squandering many chances to score.

31 SHOTS

The Girlz attempted 31 shots, with 11 on target, and dominated the possession stats with 60 per cent.

He said Monday's performance was a learning experience ahead of their final two games.

"Football is about putting the ball in the goal; goals change games. I'd love to see the stats to see how many shots we had on goal and obviously the opportunities that we missed. If we had put away some of those chances, the game would have been changed completely," Busby admitted.

"But overall, I think the positive thing is we were creating chances. I know we were creating chances, but if we weren't creating chances then we would definitely be concerned," he continued.

"We created a lot of chances to make this game a lot easier than it was at the end but that's learning for us. I think we'll take those positives, we'll take those learnings and move forward to those next two games."

The Girlz will play their next two games at home, facing Antigua and Barbuda on April 10, before closing out the group against Guyana on April 18.

The winner of the group will advance to the Concacaf W Championship, which will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

The Reggae Girlz are hunting their third consecutive appearance at the World Cup and their first-ever Olympic Games appearance.
