Barbican and Browns Town will be engaged in a big showdown for the Magnum/KSAFA Super League title tonight at the Constant Spring Complex, at 8:30.

In the first of a double-header, Constant Spring challenge Meadforest in the Magnum/KSAFA Major League final, at 6:30 p.m.

The Super League final is highly expected to be a close and competitive game between two teams that are also vying for the trophy, winning a cash incentive of $300,000, and most important, a place in the upcoming Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)-Red Stripe Premier League play-off series.

Manager of former Super League champions, Barbican, Chris James, predicts a tough game against the improving Browns Town.

"We beat Browns Town in a cross-zone fixture earlier in the season, but they have brought in some players during the January transfer window, which made them stronger. However, it will be a contrast of football styles. Browns Town play more direct while we are a passing team," James told STAR Sports yesterday.

"It is going to be a tough game. Browns Town have a lot of intensity, so I am really expecting a very tough game. We have a very experienced side because most of the players played Premier League football in the past," he added about tonight's final.

"I consider Browns Town favourites because they had a good run in the group stage, then beat a very good Molynes United in the semi-final," James pointed out.

TOUGH BATTLE

Barbican will rely on central defender and captain Ramone McGregor, Mario McDonald, Andrew Christie, Deshawn Morrison, and Shaquille Lewis.

Karume Huie, Browns Town's head coach, is also bracing for a tough battle.

"When Barbican defeated us, at the time I was not there. But they are a quality team with a lot of experienced players. They have been to the Premier League and won the Super League a few seasons ago and were also beaten in the final last season," Huie shared.

"The Barbican team have been playing together for the last five seasons, if you take (Andrew) Christie out of it. They are a team that know each other and what to do as they know what a final is all about," he added.

"This is new ground for us in a final, so we have to be patient and expect a good game. What we did this week was try to have fun and enjoy the moment. We want to keep the pressure on a level because at the end of the day, both teams want to win," Huie concluded.

Browns Town will bank on key defender and captain George Pinnock as well as Bryan English and Tevin Scott to create history for the east Kingston club.
