National striker Fabian Reid has his eyes set on winning the Golden Boot award when his club, Arnett Gardens, face off against Central FC of Trinidad and Tobago in the upcoming FLOW CONCACAF Club Championship.

Reid enters the final phase of the tournament, which will be held at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Trench Town, on four goals.

Reid's tally doubles that of the closest challenger, Luis Jose Espinal of Atletico Pantoja of Dominica Republic who is on two goals.

Arnett will play against Central in the first semi-final on May 11, while Portmore, who are playing host, will tackle Atletico Pantoja on the same match day.

Though he is not surprised that he is among the competition's top scorers, Reid admitted that he did not know that there was an award for scoring the most goals in the competition.

SURPRISED

"I am a bit surprised as I didn't know that there is an award for the leading scorer," Reid said, who was selected Most Valuable Player in the local Red Stripe Premier League told STAR Sport.

"Any tournament that I enter, the aim is to be the leading scorer. But knowing this now, it has motivated me more to score against Central and help the team to win and advance to the final."

He continued: "I want to win the award in the tournament as it is another opportunity for me to be exposed on a bigger stage."

Arnett finished fourth in 2017-18 RSPL, after jumping out to a 19 game unbeaten streak at the beginning of the season. Their season began to go south though after several publicised front office issues.

But Reid is adamant that those issues are behind them and the team is ready to find winning ways again.

"What happened in the Premier League is behind us. We have to focus on the club championship because this is a bigger competition," Reid shared.

"It is very important to win and move on to the CONCACAF Club League next year. The further you go in that league is a chance to make more money for the club."

The winners of each of the semi-finals will advance to the championship final on May 13. The CONCACAF Club Championship winner earn an automatic spot in next year's CONCACAF Club League.
