CPFSA locates verbally abused child
The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) said it has located and safeguarded the child who was seen being physically and verbally abused by a woman in a video that circulated on social media last week.
The CPFSA said that the child and her younger sibling are both now in its care and protection. The agency said it will continue to work closely with the Jamaica Constabulary Force as investigations into the matter continue.
“The agency extends its sincere appreciation to members of the public who provided information that assisted in locating the children. The response from the public demonstrates the important role that citizens can play in helping to protect children known to them by speaking up when they have concerns about their welfare,” the agency said.
The CPFSA also reminded members of the public to report all known or suspected cases of child abuse by calling 211, the 24-hour child abuse reporting hotline. Reports can also be made via WhatsApp or telephone at 876-878-2882 or 876-822-7031, by email at report@childprotection.gov.jm, or through the CPFSA’s social media pages at @cpfsajm.
