Ride up, chop, ride off! Man charged with chopping man with machete then escaping on motorbike

It was over in seconds. Police say a St Elizabeth construction worker rode up beside a man on a motorcycle, allegedly chopped him with a machete and just rode off, leaving the bloodied victim to seek help.

Charged with Wounding with Intent is 28-year-old Stevaughn Davis, a construction worker of Beadles Boulevard, Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth.

According to police reports, at about midday on Saturday, July 12, the complainant was walking along a roadway when Davis allegedly rode up beside him on a motorcycle and used a machete to inflict wounds to the man's left hand.

Davis then allegedly fled the scene.

The injured man was assisted to hospital, where he received medical treatment.

The matter was reported to the police, and following investigations, Davis was arrested and charged.

His court date is being finalised.
