Constable killed in Bustamante Highway crash
The Jamaica Constabulary Force has been plunged into mourning after a police officer was killed in a crash along the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon on Thursday morning.
The deceased officer has been identified as Constable Shavaine Davy, who was attached to the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) in the Corporate Area.
Details surrounding the crash have not yet been disclosed by investigators.
In a tribute issued on Thursday, the JCF described Davy as a dedicated and professional officer whose service was marked by courage and commitment.
"His dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving and protecting the people of Jamaica will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working alongside him."
The force also extended condolences to his family, friends and fellow officers.
"The force mourns the loss of a valued member whose service reflected courage and devotion to duty. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones, fellow officers, and all those affected by this tragic loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find strength and comfort in the cherished memories of his life and service."
Constable Davy's death has sent shockwaves through the police force, particularly among colleagues within the PSTEB, where he served in traffic enforcement and public safety operations.
Investigations into the fatal crash are continuing.
