Reggae Sumfest announces traffic, transportation plan

As excitement builds for the staging of A Taste of Reggae Sumfest at Plantation Cove, St Ann, organisers are assuring patrons that extensive planning and coordination have gone into creating a safe, efficient, and seamless experience from arrival to departure.

With thousands expected to attend the landmark event, transportation and traffic management have been a key priority in the months leading up to the show. Downsound Entertainment, producers of the event, have worked closely with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and other relevant stakeholders to develop a comprehensive plan designed to support traffic flow, minimise delays, and ensure an efficient experience for all patrons. The integrated traffic management strategy will include coordinated traffic control measures and personnel positioned along key routes leading to the venue, helping to manage the movement of vehicles before, during, and after the event.

A major component of the transportation plan is the festival’s park-and-ride programme, which offers patrons a convenient and hassle-free alternative to driving directly to the venue while helping to reduce congestion in the surrounding area. Patrons who utilise the service will enjoy a comfortable journey with dedicated shuttle transportation, allowing for faster movement from the parking locations to the showground and a more efficient arrival experience.

Three designated park-and-ride locations will be available on event night. The Discovery Bay Sports Centre will serve patrons travelling from western Jamaica, and can accommodate approximately 1,500 vehicles. Shuttle services will transport guests directly to and from the venue. The Pearly Beach area will serve eastbound patrons. This location provides parking capacity for approximately 400 vehicles, with shuttle transportation available to the festival grounds. The third location is the Seville Great House, which also caters to eastbound patrons, will accommodate approximately 1,530 vehicles, and will provide shuttle services to and from Plantation Cove.

Organisers are reminding patrons that access to the Park-and-Ride shuttle service requires a valid Park-and-Ride pass and are encouraging guests to secure their passes in advance to ensure a smooth and efficient arrival experience. Park-and-Ride passes are affordably priced at J$1,500 for cars, J$2,000 for SUVs, and J$2,500 for buses, and can be purchased at reggaesumfest.com.
