Hope husband number three is Mr Right

April 01, 2026

Dear Pastor,

I am a 52-year-old woman and I have been divorced twice. The first time I got married, I was 23.

I was eager to get married, but the relationship did not last. The union produced two children. I got married again when I was 30. I could not stay in that marriage because my husband was a gambler. I did not know why he could gamble so much. He would gamble away his entire salary and expect me to give him money to go to work on Monday. I tried to get professional help for him, but that was a waste of time. He said nothing was wrong with him. Finally, he was fired from his job and arrested for stealing. We did not have children together, so I moved out and went to live in a one-bedroom apartment. I worked two jobs to survive.

Life has been very hard for me. I now have a man friend. He is a real gentleman and he has proposed to me. He is 10 years my senior, but I love him. His father loves me. I did not intend to get married again, but this man has convinced me that I would make him a good wife. Pastor Dumas, I have nothing, but this man has his own home and it is paid for. His parents are wealthy. So I have decided to take the plunge again. I only want happiness and I think I have found that in this man.

It is not a good feeling to go to the altar three times and say the marriage vows, but I am prepared to try it again. What do you say?

S.T.

Dear S.T.,

I am prepared to wish you well. I will not condemn you at all. Let me hear from you whether this marriage is working out well for you.
