I can’t stop masturbating at work

Dear Pastor,

I masturbate regularly. I have even found myself wanting to masturbate while I am at work sitting at my desk.

I feel very horny and I have to get up, go to the bathroom and masturbate, then I go back to my desk and continue working. No one knows that I am having this problem, but I often wonder whether I need to see a counsellor.

Do you think I am abnormal?

You are not abnormal. But you have got into a habit that may become very difficult for you to break without professional help.

Before I went into counselling as a profession, a young man told me that he had erections even while he was at work. To get over his strong sexual feelings, he had to masturbate. Occasionally, people have these strong physical sensations, but nothing is wrong with them. Sometimes it happens to girls while they are at work, and it also happens at home when they are alone or even with friends. Many Christian girls think that they are bad and that is why they get these strong sexual feelings. But these feelings are normal. Women should not condemn themselves, neither should men.

Some women say that they deal with these feelings by having cold showers, while some masturbate and go to bed.
