Man tells woman she resembles his daughter’s killer, then allegedly robs her

A bizarre accusation allegedly turned into a terrifying robbery when two men reportedly confronted a woman at a Greater Portmore bus stop, claiming she resembled someone who had killed a man’s daughter before allegedly pulling a gun and demanding her phone.

The men, identified as 25-year-old Daquan Bruce of Shortwood Road, Kingston, and 28-year-old Randy May of Cockburn Avenue, Kingston 11, have since been arrested and charged.

The pair face charges of Robbery with Aggravation, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony and Conspiracy.

According to the Portmore police, the incident occurred about 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, while the woman was standing at a bus stop in Greater Portmore, St Catherine.

Bruce and May allegedly approached her and told her that she resembled a woman who had killed a man's daughter.

The situation reportedly took a frightening turn when the men allegedly demanded that she hand over her cellular phone.

One of the men reportedly lifted his shirt and displayed a firearm tucked into his waistband.

Fearing for her life, the woman allegedly handed over the phone, after which the men fled the area.

Their escape, however, was reportedly short-lived.

Police later apprehended Bruce and May in Half Way Tree, and the two men were positively identified during an identification parade.

They were subsequently charged.

Their court date is being finalised.
