Masked man steals $9.5M from Portmore ATM
Police in St Catherine are searching for a man who allegedly made off with nearly $10 million from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Portmore.
Reports are that on September 11, 2025, a security company collected $9.5 million from a business operator and loaded the cash into a commercial bank ATM in Portmore.
The transaction was reportedly logged and reported to a superior.
However, on March 15, 2026, during a routine verification process, another team discovered discrepancies in the amount that was said to have been deposited.
Further checks revealed that a significant sum of money was missing.
Investigators say CCTV footage showed a masked individual removing cash from a bin inside the ATM before escaping the area.
The matter was reported to the Portmore police, and an intensive investigation is now underway.
