Nhance teaches love on ‘Romantic Monsta’
Dancehall young star Nhance said though his love-laced EP ' Romantic Monsta' is geared towards the ladies, he hopes that his male counterparts will also be reminded that it's okay to be masculine and still show love.
He said the striking oxymoronic contrast in the seven-track EP's title was deliberate.
"That's exactly what made the title stand out," he smiled. "When people hear 'Monsta', they usually think rough, aggressive, hardcore energy. But I wanted to flip that and show another side. Romantic Monsta is about balance, being strong, confident and masculine, but still knowing how to love, care and show emotion. It's really about owning all sides of yourself, not just the tough exterior," Nhance told THE STAR.
The Big Energy singer also noted that his desired impact for this project is to fuel emotional "growth" in men.
"A lot of men grow up thinking romance makes you soft, but that's not true. This music is showing that you can be dominant, passionate and still respectful and loving. Especially around Valentine's Day, I want male fans to understand that treating your woman right doesn't take away from your strength; it actually adds to it," he opined.
As for his female fans, he urges them to know their worth.
"The response has been very positive - a lot of excitement, a lot of support and plenty anticipation. [However] the message I want to leave with my female supporters is [one of] appreciation. This EP is for the ladies. It's about making women feel desired, valued and understood, not just for Valentine's Day but beyond that," said Nhance.
Nhance noted that though his personal favourite is the lead track Romantic Gangsta, he loves and enjoys every song on the project.
"Each track represents a different mood, a different way of expressing love and they all connect back to the same theme - music for the ladies," he said. Set to drop a day before Valentine's Day, he said the release date was "very strategic", as the aim is to set the mood for the entire 'love season'.
"I want Romantic Monsta's tracklist to be part of people's moments, date nights, gifts, playlists, memories. The ripple effect I'm hoping for is that it becomes a soundtrack for love, connection and real vibes during that time," said Nhance. He admitted that he's a 'loverboy' all year round.
"I am big on love; not just Valentine's Day specifically, but love in general," he said. However, for this year, he said his attention will be on work.
"I'm focused on the music, the release and letting the fans enjoy the project. If love comes with it, even better," he joked.
Romantic Monsta follows his debut EP, Monsta of my Era which was released last June. Among the tracks was a tribute to his mother, dancehall artiste Sheba, which was titled Mama.
