MC Nuffy steps into selector role

MC Nuffy has been booked as a selector for the first time, and has pledged to bring "a new flavour" to the art when he embarks on a massive England tour in March.

The highly rated MC is set to thrill fans at several parties hosted by UK-based promoters Team Flexi and Real Askel 45. MC Nuffy, who is featured on the event's poster as 'Vybz Kartel Host', has promised to bring his high energy and musical prowess to fans in cities such as Manchester and London in England.

"It's mi first time getting booked as a selector," he beamed. "Mi feel great about it."

The self-proclaimed 'MC of all emcees' is brimming with excitement as he looks ahead to the challenge. He said that while he is officially stepping into the role of a selector, the job is not something that is strange to him.

"Most times when mi on shows as MC, mi mek di selection of di songs I want and gi di selector fi play. A nuh mi deh 'round di console, but some people nuh know seh mi can dweet. But a mi alone a go deh 'round it now and a control it," an excited MC Nuffy told THE STAR.

He said that his booking as a selector for upcoming England tour stems from his exploits while touring with dancehall king, Vybz Kartel, last year. He said people got the chance to see him as "MC and deejay a intro di song dem".

"Suh a from deh so in last year at the two back-to-back international shows Kartel did have, di lady approach mi and seh she waah mi come be a selector, because dem did like how mi did a nice up di ting," he said.

A confident MC Nuffy said that from his selective touch, he expects positive changes to the music space.

"Nowadays, most selectors waah become MC because dem see how mi do mi thing, and mi make it into a very important job. Mi stand out in it and mek mi job outstanding, nuh matter which artiste mi a call out pon stage," he said.

He added that his image also plays a major role, as he is always well put together, and people already know what he brings as an MC. However, through his work as a selector, he intends to show a different side of himself, insisting that the selecting scene needs fresh energy and that he plans to introduce a new flavour.

While expanding his reach as a selector, he made it clear that his commitment to the microphone remains unshaken. Nuffy was quick to assure fans that there are no plans to abandon his first love, insisting that the MC role remains his top priority.

"A di number one hat, and mi first love dat. Mi still a di bad MC," he said.
