Humble Lion tame Arnett
Humble Lion Football Club continued their impressive run of form and battle against relegation under coach Alex Thomas, after scoring a big 3-1 win in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) over second-place Arnett Gardens at Effortville Community Centre on Thursday.
The Clarendon club have created a fortress at home since January, and are unbeaten in their last six home matches, including five wins.
The win carried 12th-place Humble Lion to 32 points, three clear of Molynes United who are second from bottom, and nine points ahead of last-place Vere Phoenix.
Richardo Ramsey fired Humble Lion in front after just 13 minutes, but the league's leading scorer, Warner Brown, netted his 19th goal of the season to level the scores in the 31st minute.
However, Ramsey restored Humble Lion's advantage eight minutes after the break and Deonjay Brown sealed the win with a 77th-minute strike.
Meanwhile, Arnett stayed second in the table, after third-place Montego Bay played to a 1-1 draw at Waterhouse.
Central midfielder Lucas Lima scored the game's opening goal after 72 minutes, but Navardo Blair secured a point for Waterhouse in added time.
MoBay United and Arnett Gardens are tied on 66 points, with Arnett having the better goal difference.
Waterhouse (46 points) moved back into seventh place ahead of Racing United (45 points) after the draw.
Chapelton Maroons also gave their relegation fight a big boost with a 1-0 win over Dunbeholden, who they replaced in ninth place on goal difference. Both teams currently sit on 33 points.
Nathaniel Howe scored the all-important goal 53 minutes into the match.
At Edward Seaga Sports Complex, Tivoli Gardens held defending champions Cavalier to a 1-1 draw to hold onto sixth spot on 47 points.
Alton Lewis fired Tivoli into the lead, but a resilient Cavalier secured a point with a minute to go, thanks to Shaquille Stein's goal.
Cavalier stay three points clear of Tivoli in fifth on 50 points.
