Teen stabbed after refusing to hand over phone, suspect charged
A Kingston teen's walk home turned violent when he was allegedly stabbed after refusing to hand over his mobile phone during a robbery on Birmingham Avenue.
Detectives attached to the St Andrew Central Police Division have charged 20-year-old Antwon Grolles of Spanish Town Road, Kingston 13, in connection with the attack.
Police report that about 5:25 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, the teen was walking along Birmingham Avenue in Kingston 10 when Grolles allegedly approached him and demanded his mobile phone.
The teenager reportedly refused. It is alleged that Grolles then stabbed him and fled the scene with $30,000.
The injured teen was treated at hospital, and the matter was later reported to the police.
Following several lines of enquiry, investigators were led to Grolles' home, where he was apprehended during an operation on Monday, February 16. He was subsequently interviewed in the presence of his attorney and later charged with robbery with aggravation and wounding with intent.
His court date is being finalised.
