Man nabbed for choking woman on Valentine’s Day then taking her money
Valentine's Day ended in horror for one woman after a man allegedly grabbed her, squeezed her throat and robbed her of more than $90,000 during a brutal late night attack in Kingston.
Thirty-five-year old Christopher Chambers, otherwise called Zeeks, of Waltham Park Road, Kingston 13, has been slapped with a string of serious charges following the incident, which occurred on Saturday, February 14.
Chambers is facing charges of Assault at Common Law, Robbery with Aggravation, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony, Unlawful Wounding and Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm.
Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 10:35 p.m., Chambers approached the woman along West Street, grabbed her and violently squeezed her throat.
Investigators say he then brandished a firearm and used it to hit her several times, leaving her with bruising and swelling.
After the physical assault, the accused allegedly took the woman's bag containing $71,000 along with items valued at $20,000 before fleeing the scene.
Citizens reportedly came to the woman's assistance and escorted her to the police station, where a report was made.
Police say an immediate investigation was launched into the attack. Chambers was taken into custody and charged a day later.
His court date is now being finalised.
