Party promoter ‘Walkin’ Bank’ shot dead in St Mary
Shock and grief have gripped sections of St Mary following the murder of a popular event promoter who was shot and killed Monday night in what police say was the parish's second murder in a matter of hours.
Dead is 32 year old Kemoy Finley, otherwise called "Walkin' Bank" or "Turbo", of Highgate, St Mary.
Reports are that about 9:35 p.m., Finley was attacked by gunmen in Robins Bay and shot. He later succumbed to his injuries. His motor vehicle was also reportedly stolen following the attack.
Finley was well known in entertainment circles as an event promoter and also operated a chartered taxi service. Persons close to him say his killing has left many struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
One associate told The STAR that Finley was known to be very cautious when conducting business.
"If him don't know you personally, him not going to take you," the source said, adding that many persons are now questioning what could have led to the deadly attack.
Another source pointed out that Finley had been preparing for a major event.
"A March 7 him big party fi keep and now a funeral planning. Nobody saw this coming," the source said.
Finley's killing came just hours after another fatal shooting in the parish. Earlier Monday morning, 59 year old businessman Garfield Singh was gunned down at his home in Boscobel, St Mary.
Singh operated Singh's Tyre Sales, Service and Repair.
The two killings have heightened fear among residents as investigators continue probing both incidents. Up to now, no arrests have been made.
Police statistics show that the St Mary division had recorded one murder as at February 7. Around the same period last year, three murders were being investigated.
