4-y-o girl fatally shot in Manchester attack identified

Police have identified the four-year-old girl who was shot dead during a brazen attack in Manchester on Sunday afternoon as Saniyah O'Brien.

Reports are that around 5:30 p.m., Saniyah and her father were travelling in a black Toyota Voxy in Land Settlement, Williamsfield, when armed men ambushed the vehicle, opening fire on both occupants.

The young girl was rushed with her father, a car dealer, to Mandeville Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Her father sustained injuries and remains hospitalised. His condition has not yet been disclosed.

The police have launched an investigation into the shooting. As of February 7, the Manchester Police Division had recorded four murders this year.
