A St Catherine man who slapped a ninety one year old complainant right inside the Glengoffe Police Station is now staring down a 200 thousand dollar fine or six months in prison.

The man, Miguel Morris of Glengoffe District, reportedly lost his cool after the elderly man accused him of stealing his phone. Instead of keeping calm, Morris allegedly lashed out and slapped the senior citizen in full view of police officers.

Morris, a truck driver, is charged with simple larceny, threat and assault occasioning bodily harm. When he appeared before Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne, he pleaded guilty and told the court he only became cross because the complainant had lied on him.

The forty seven year old was sentenced and granted bail in the sum of 50 thousand dollars with a surety on the simple larceny matter. He is scheduled to return to court on March 17, 2026.

The court heard that on November 24, 2025, the elderly complainant reported that Morris stole his phone and warned him not to report the matter. When the senior went to the Glengoffe Police Station to make the report, Morris allegedly stormed in and slapped him in front of officers.

He was immediately arrested and charged.
