Angry mom breaks hospital door
A Corporate Area woman said that frustration from waiting for an extended period at a hospital caused her to destroy one of the institution's doors.
It was shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court that on April 15, the defendant, Cordia Bailey, went to the Bustamante Hospital for Children to seek medical attention for her daughter, who has asthma. Bailey, the court heard, became boisterous and started hurling expletives at the medical staff, then punched the door of the patient affairs office. The cost of the damage is said to be $16,150.
"This took place because of frustration and lack of sleep," Bailey explained, following her guilty plea to the charge of malicious destruction of property.
"I felt disappointed with what the doctors were telling me," she shared further.
"I do apologise for my actions," Bailey said, indicating that she is more than willing to make restitution for the damaged door.
"You have to find a better way to express your frustration," presiding Judge Carlo Mason counselled her.
Bailey made compensation and was discharged from the court.
