Police rescue naked woman
A woman was rescued by the police in the dead at night after a man she met online allegedly became abusive because she denied his request for a second round of sexual intercourse.
The woman was in the nude when the law enforcement officers showed up at the house she was staying in Kingston. Her alleged abuser, Tavar McLean, was subsequently arrested and charged for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The jaw-dropping allegations were revealed in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday when McLean appeared before Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque. The court heard that McLean and the complainant met on social media and thereafter started a relationship. On the day of the incident, the complainant journeyed from St James, where she resides, and visited the man at his Corporate Area home, where they had dinner, watched a movie and had sex.
The court heard further that later that night, the complainant woke up and saw McLean wearing a condom. He reportedly told her that he wanted more sex. She rejected his advances, telling the defendant that she has work in a couple of hours. However, McLean reportedly told her, "If me did buy a prostitute, me woulda get me monies' worth".
It is alleged that he started to beat the complainant. A relative, who lives on the premises, heard the commotion and intervened. The police were summoned and a team was dispatched to the premises where the woman, who was in the nude, was rescued.
The complainant said she received injuries during the ordeal, and had to undergo a CT scan and an ultrasound and had to miss two weeks of work.
Cole-Montaque ordered the man to compensate the complainant in the sum of $120,000. A first payment of $50,000 was made in court. As part of his bail, he must have no contact or communication with the complainant.
The matter was adjourned until February 28, when further payment is to be made. Sentencing was postponed until then.
