Portmore crash claims four lives

A two-vehicle collision yesterday morning in Portmore, St Catherine, added to the carnage on the nations roadway after claiming the lives of four persons, including a policeman.

THE WEEKEND STAR gathered that the crash involved a Toyota Yaris motor car being driven by 18-year-old Theo McKenzie that collided with a Honda CRV that was being driven by 47-year-old Sergeant Dillon Davis.

The accident occurred on the Dyke Road about 2 a.m.

Reports are that McKenzie of Greater Portmore, St Catherine, and two of the three passengers in his car died on the spot.

The deceased have since been identified as 27-year-old Tameca Davis, also of Greater Portmore, and a man known only as Marvin.

The fourth passenger in the Yaris and another who was travelling in the CRV being driven by the policeman, who is attached to the Kingston Central Police Division, have since been hospitalised in serious condition.

Assistant Superintendent at the St Catherine Fire Division, Patrick Callum, said based on preliminary investigation it was a head-on collision.

Fire fighters were summoned to the scene and had to cut bodies from the wreckage of both vehicles.
