Malibu makes debut with ‘Micah’ rhythm
Music producer Malibu is making his production debut with the 'Micah' rhythm which was officially released on June 6.
"This riddim brings listeners some 'feel good' type of music. It's organic, clean cultural music for all ages. You should hear my four-year-old signing the songs around in the house," the producer said. Named after his first son, the rhythm features Munga Honorable, Jah Fiery, Da Jigga, Kamar-I and Zidon Brooks. Connecting with each artiste through various means, they all came together to add their unique touches to the project.
"Jah Fiery and Kamar-I, who is my cousin, grew up in the same community. Kamar-I introduced me to Jah Fiery because they've worked on projects together. I told Jah Fiery that I would love for Munga Honorable to be on the beat. I've always had a mutual respect for Munga Honorable. Da Jigga and I grew up in the same scheme in Buff Bay, Portland, and Zidon Brooks was introduced to me by a family member. It was a process to get everything together for this project and I'm elated to have them all on board," the producer stated.
As his very first project, the Micah rhythm holds much significance for the producer and he said that he expects it to go global.
"I would love to be a household name. I see myself doing big things on a global scale. This is the vision I received from God," he said.
As a self-taught producer, Malibu, given name Dave Malcolm, has been honing his craft for some time and is aiming to reach higher heights as he continues to work on more productions with more talented artistes.
"My uniqueness comes from my passion and obsession for music," he stated.
