Girlfriend refuses to celebrate Christmas

December 24, 2024

Dear Pastor,

I am living with a woman and we get along very well. We have a child together, but we are not married.

I was going to marry her, so we started to attend a church, and the members also come to the house and study with her. She stopped sending our son to school. She suddenly doesn't believe in Jesus any more, and has stopped observing Christmas and Easter.

Pastor, do you believe in Jesus? Do you have Christmas service at your church?

Seeker of Truth

Dear Seeker of Truth.,

I am a Christian. I am a follower of Christ, but I am not going to condemn anyone who does not believe in Jesus Christ.

I have met some people who have rejected Christ. I have been serving Christ from I was a child, and I will continue to do so. I believe that he is the Saviour of mankind. Jesus Christ is not a myth. There is evidence that show that Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem. The Bible gives biographies of Jesus.

Secular historians have written about Him. Some people suppose that, other than the gospels, no ancient writer mentions Jesus Christ. They are quite wrong. Among the secular historians and writers of antiquity who refer to Christ and Christianity are Tacitus, the Roman historian; Suetonius; Pliny the younger; Epictetus; Lucian Aristides; Galenus; Lampridius; DioCassisu; Hinnerius; Libanius; Ammianus; Marcellinus; Eunapisu; and Zosimus. Others have written books against Christianity, including Lucian, Celsus, Porphyry, Hierocles, and Julian the Apostate. Numerous others, including Jewish writers, have written about Jesus Christ.

Jesus was not an imposter as many have tried to portray Him. He was crucified as an innocent man. Pilot said that he did not find any fault in Jesus. And millions who follow Him today and worship and serve Him, have found no fault in Him. No wonder the song write says: " I rather have Jesus than silver and gold. He has brought comfort to many." Another songwriter describes Him as "cleansing stream, I see I see, I plunge and oh it cleanest Me". Another writer testifies that "His blood is the only thing that can wash away sin."

The thief on the cross said to Jesus, "Lord when you come into your kingdom, remember me." All who reject Jesus have enough time now to call upon Him for salvation. His coming into the world was to save men and women from their sins

Napoleon Bonaparte said, "I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is not a man." Napoleon had lived an ungodly life and coming to the end of it, he began reading the Bible every day, and he embraced Christ as his saviour and Lord. There are many others who question who Jesus Christ really is. I have a simple answer for them - Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He is the one who can forgive sin and the one who went to Calvary to save men and women from their sins.

William Shakespeare, perhaps the greatest literary genius of all time, wrote in his will: "I commend my soul into the hands of God, my Creator, hoping and assuredly believing through the merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour to be made partaker of life everlasting." Lord Byron wrote: "If ever man was God or God was man, Jesus Christ was both." James Greenleaf Whittier said, "My ground of hope for myself and for humanity is in that divine fullness of love which was manifested in the life, teaching, and sacrifices of Christ. In the finite mercy of God so revealed and not in any worth or merit of our nature, I humbly, yet very hopefully trust." Charles Dickens said, "I commit my soul to the mercy of God, through the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ".

I have found no fault in him. Neither did Pilot. He is the greatest of all men. He is the creator of the universe. He said, "I and my father are one", and He calls upon men and women everywhere to worship and serve Him. He is real. Yes, I believe in Jesus Christ. I have embraced him as my Lord and Saviour and I will encourage everyone to do the same. He is no more a baby in a manger. Christmas means a lot to me because I worship the reason for Christmas - the Lord Jesus Christ.
