It is hard not to hear the sound of Dalton Spence's pot covers clanging together at national sporting events.

As night follows day, Spence was on hand clamouring for the Reggae Boyz in their Concacaf World Cup Qualifying football match in their 4-0 win over Bermuda at the National Stadium.

A dream for the Jamaican team, the instrumentals specialist has made the journey a dream of his own, admitting it would be a big deal for him to cheer on Jamaica internationally at events like the World Cup.

Unlike low cost treks to the National Stadium or other sporting arenas across the Corporate Area and neighbouring parishes, Spence, confident in the nation's chances of making the World Cup, says he needs financial support to make this dream a reality.

"People are always seeing me knocking pot covers at the stadium and they are always saying that I should be at international events (like the) World Championships and the World Cup but I never get to be there so I decided to find a way to do it," said Spence, also dubbed the 'PotCova Man', in a sad tone.

Also famous for his saying, 'Jamaica a big deal and di rest a dem a small fries and side order', the Christel House music teacher has drawn on his own best talents as he seeks to help fund his way to the World Cup.

"I recently put out a song called 'Big Deal and Small Fries' and I am saying all the people that have been saying I should be at the World Cup, I encourage them to download and stream the song because it is available on all the platforms and if they do it, it will finance my trip to the next World Cup," he said.

Still, he welcomes financial support from any private or public operation wanting to help him sound his pot covers at the World Cup to be hosted across Canada, the United States and Mexico in July next year.

"I would love if a sponsor could come along. People are always saying I am Jamaica's unofficial cheerleader and if a sponsor wants to come and align with me as Jamaica's unofficial cheerleader, I would jump at that opportunity," he said cheerfully.

"It (World Cup) is on my bucket list, just to be there to cheer them on, knock my pot covers and talk about the greatest of Jamaica."

Though the Reggae Boyz have not yet secured their spot to compete at the event, as they have two more games to play, Spence is confident that the team will qualify, which would be a first since the one and only 1998 qualification.

"There is no doubt about it at this point," he said at the end of Tuesday night's victory, which came courtesy of goals by Dante Leverock (24th minute, OG), Bobby Reid (26th), Shamar Nicholson (35th) and Dujuan Richards (76th).

The Boyz will know their fate, of automatically qualifying for the World Cup, after their final match against the only team to beat them in their group so far, Curacao, at the National Stadium in Kingston on November 18, this after tackling Trinidad and Tobago in Tobago.

Until then, the PotCova Man has his passport, visa and pot covers ready.

"I have a special one (pot cover) and I sprayed it gold, which means greatness, because that is what we are all about."
