May Pen police lock-up detainee dies after falling ill

A probe has been launched into the death of a detainee at May Pen police lock-up in Clarendon on Wednesday.

He has been identified by the police as 58-year-old Collintine Sutherland of Crofts Hill in the parish.

Reports are that about 8:30 a.m., Sutherland was inside the lock-up and he complained about feeling ill.

He was assisted to the May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The matter is being investigated by the police as well as by the Independent Commission of Investigations.
