Fisherman killed in alleged police confrontation in Thompson Pen
The St Catherine North police are reporting that a 37-year-old man was fatally shot during an operation in Thompson Pen, St Catherine today.
The deceased has been identified as Demoy Campbell, a fisherman of a Thompson Pen address.
According to police reports, a team of officers was conducting an operation in the area about 7:30 a.m. in search of wanted men.
The police reported that the cops came under gunfire from a man.
The police say the officers returned fire, during which Campbell was shot.
He was taken to hospital where he later died.
The police say a gun was seized.
