Man dies after alleged attack on cop inside Ocho Rios lock-up

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the fatal shooting of a man who allegedly attacked a policeman while in custody at the Ocho Rios lock-up in St Ann on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Sammaine McBean, a labourer of Milford Road in Ocho Rios.

Reports indicate that about 8:40 a.m., McBean was in custody when an alleged confrontation occurred between him and a police officer.

During the incident, McBean was shot and injured. He was taken to the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
