Cops seize 1,000 pounds of ganja

Police seized 1,000 pounds of ganja, and destroyed 1,600 seedlings during an operation in Vineyard district, Black River in St Elizabeth yesterday.

Reports are that between the hours of 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., the operation was conducted by police officers assigned to the Narcotics Division. The police said three huts and surrounding premises were searched by lawmen, and the illicit drug found. The ganja has an estimated street value of J$5.5 million.

No one was arrested in relation to the find.

Investigations continue.
