Approximately 28,000 tourism jobs are expected to be created in over the next three to four years if Finance Minister Audley Shaw's promise of 14,000 hotel rooms over the period materialise.
On average, of two jobs are created when a new hotel room is built.
Shaw said recently that the new rooms will help to boost economic growth on the island.
"What we are looking at with these rooms is a 30 per cent addition to the tourism plant which, by any standard of measurement, is a significant growth," Shaw said.
