Reggae artiste FiyahTruth believes that message music can inspire the oppressed, especially those of African ancestry, so that they can overcome obstacles and claim their rightful places as rulers of their own destiny.

He is pushing the single, Hostyle Takeover, to wake people up to the mission ahead.

"The inspiration is the dismantling of the unfair Babylon system which is killing them off little by little like long-term exposure to radiation, degrading their health, their culture, the very essence of what makes them human," he said.

The single, which was released on the Black Star Liner label, is the lead project from his debut EP of the same name which he hopes will spark change. The EP features songs such as Father Jah.

Born Sean Thompson, FiyahTruth lived with his parents in Kingston 10 until the age of seven, when he moved to Kildare in Buff Bay, Portland, where he lived with his grandmother.

He attended Port Antonio High School before migrating to the US at age 13. He completed his secondary education at Ramsey High School in New Jersey. At age 18, he enlisted in the US Army and began to write songs while he was stationed overseas.

"I had always loved music, long before I even knew that I could create music," he said. He recorded his first single, Dem No Wah Search over a decade ago, but the project was never released.
