Razor B declares a Katchie Christmas
Dancehall hitmaker Razor B has declared this Yuletide season as 'Katchie Christmas' following the release of the video for his fun collaboration, Katchie, with fellow dancehall act Macka Diamond.
The new single, produced by DJ Tropical for his Channel 17 Record label, has been getting added attention after the recent release of the official visuals. The video depicts a 90s couple-up high-energy staging with imagery set against the backdrop of the colourful streets of downtown Kingston.
Razor believes this should be the movement for the festive season.
"This is the first Christmas season after a heavy season of lockdown due to COVID and I think people need to be back outside coupling up and dancing together since we no longer need to be six feet apart," Razor B said.
" Katchie is the perfect raunchy dancehall example of this and fans are loving it, it's a Katchie Christmas!" Razor explained
The Government in March abandoned the Disaster Risk Management Act as a tool for the management of COVID-19, thus paving the way for this to be the first Christmas celebration since 2020 that will take place without the country being under lockdown.
Meanwhile, Razor B says Katchie demonstrates that dancehall music can be fun and entertaining without being violent or promoting illegal acts or crime of any kind.
"Dancehall have so many faces because it depicts different lifestyles and I'm never gonna be one to tell any artiste not to sing about this or that because it's their own art they are channelling. As for Razor B though, I'm always gonna sing for the ladies, to the ladies and with the ladies; because that's what I know and love!" the Bruk Fi Mi Bak hitmaker said.
